Tipping OffThe Southern Arkansas women's basketball team is looking to return to their winning ways after losing their first game of the season in their most-recent action back on
December 5 against Southwestern Oklahoma. That loss to the Bulldogs ended the Lady Muleriders sensational start to the 2015-16 campaign under first-year head coach Julio Pacheco as it was the best start to a season for the SAU women's basketball program in over a decade.
In that loss, SAU's
Rosa Bryant scored over half of the team's points as she scored a career-high 40 points on 19-of-31 (.612) shooting from the field. That 40-point effort by
Bryant was the most points scored in a game by a Lady Mulerider since 2002 when Stacy Stockton went for 41 points against Arkansas- Monticello.
This Thursday, the Lady Muleriders welcome in LeMoyne-Owen College for a non-conference match-up with a tip-off for 5:30 p.m.

SCOUTING LEMOYNE-OWENThe LeMoyne-Owen women's basketball team enters play on Thursday with a 3-5 overall record. In the most-recent action on Thursday, The Magicians are coming off of a 75-63 win in their last game against Fort Valley State University.Â
On the season, the Magicians are averaging 59.2 points per game while allowing their opponents to score an average of 68.5 points per game for a scoring margin of -9.2. Their points per game average ranks 10th in their conference, the SIAC, while their scoring defense ranks eighth and their scoring margin ranks ninth within that league.
In terms of individual production, the Magicians are led by Teresa Mays at 15.0 points per game. Also averaging double figures is Maraja Johnson at 10.9 points per game. Two other Magicians are averaging just under 10 ppg at 9.4 and 9.1 ppg, respectively. Defensively, the Magicians have forced 114 turnovers with 89 of those being steals. Additionally, the Magicians are allowing their opponents to shoot at a clip of .434 overall from the floor and .295 from beyond the arc.
COACHThe Magicians are coached by Antony Partee, who is in his third season at LeMoyne-Owen. In his previous two seasons, Partee has amassed a 24-29 record. Last year, Partee had his best season at LeMoyne-Owen as he led the Magicians to an 18-8 record. Those 18 wins were a 12-win improvement from his first season on the sidelines
as LeMoyne-Owen went 6-21.
LAST YEAR/LAST TIME OUTThe last time these two teams met was back in 2012 in Memphis and it was LeMoyne-Owen who would come away with the win, 59-53.
THE SERIESThis is the sixth meeting all-time between Southern Arkansas and LeMoyne Owen in women's basketball. In the previous five meetings, SAU holds a slight advantage at 3-2. This will also be the second meeting played in Magnolia as the two teams opened up their all-time series at the W.T. Watson Center in the year 2000.
ON TAPThe Lady Muleriders will prepare for their final contest of the 2015 calendar year as they are set to play Philander Smith at home on Wednesday, December 30. Tip-off for the non-conference game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the W.T. Watson Center.
