ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas volleyball team snapped their season-long four-match losing streak as they swept past Great American Conference foe Henderson State on Thursday night at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia.
In each of the three sets, SAU recorded double-digit kills with their high-kill mark of 13 coming in the opening set. In the closeout third set, the Lady Muleriders (15-11, 5-6 GAC) turned in their most efficient offensive effort of the match as they committed just four attack errors.
With set scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-22, the match appeared to be played closely. However, despite the close scores, no set was really in question as the lead changed hands only four times during the match with three of those lead changes coming in the third set.
Six different Lady Muleriders recorded a kill in the match with
Amanda Monge leading the way with 11 kills. Behind her was
Logan Tolbert with eight kills. Setter
Gabby Clark paced the offense as she dished out 31 of the team's 33 assists.
Defensively, the Lady Muleriders denied nine Henderson State attacks as they totaled nine blocks (four solo, five assisted).
Cambria Martin recorded the most blocks with five in the match (one solo, four assisted). In the dig stat category, SAU came away with 43 as a team.
Lauren Woods led the way with 14 digs.
The Lady Muleriders will take their final break from GAC play this weekend as they will hit the road to take part in the Southwest Baptist tri-match as they will take on Southwest Baptist and Washburn University on Saturday, November 2.
