Southern Arkansas - Southern Nazarene Football Game Notes

THE SERIES (0-0, First Meeting)
Saturday's game will be the first-ever meeting between Southern Arkansas and Southern Nazarene on the football field.

RECORD WATCH
Southern Arkansas junior starting quarterback Tyler Sykora has continued his assault on the Mulerider record book all season, setting four career school marks and tying one of his own single-game records thus far.

Sykora should be able to garner at least one more career record this season, as he currently has 4,450 yards of total offense and needs 893 yards to tie former quarterback Ted Williams' 5,343 set from 2000-2003.

Sykora has thrown 15 touchdown passes so far this season and needs just four more to match his own school record of 19 set last year.

The southpaw currently owns 11 school records, including four career and season marks, and three single-game records.

Mulerider junior running back Mark Johnson is close to a couple of career records himself.  He currently has 26 rushing touchdowns in his career and needs one more to tie the record of 27 held by Torrence Jones (2001-2004), and his 491 career rushing attempts are just 106 shy of Gerald Pride's 597 (1979-1982).

SHUTOUT
Southern Arkansas' 19-0 shutout win at East Central last week was its second of the year behind its season-opening 56-0 blanking of Texas College, a feat achieved for the first time since the 1976 team had two.  It was also the Muleriders' first shutout of a conference opponent since a 48-0 win over Arkansas-Monticello in 2002.

HALL OF FAME
Southern Arkansas will be inducting its 10th Sports Hall of Fame class this weekend, with this year's inductees being honored at the annual banquet Friday night and then introduced at halftime of Saturday's game.  This year's class includes Allard Baird (baseball) and Fred Perry (football) as Modern Era Athletes, Jerry Camp (football), Bruce Hamlin (track and field) and Janet Cooper Wood (basketball and volleyball) as Golden Era Athletes, Dan Gregory for Meritorious Service, and Jay Adcox  (Posthumously), Ken Cole and Sonny Whittington for Outstanding Service.
