SAU Falls By One In Home Finale Match Against Golden Suns

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The regular season has come to a close for Mulerider Women's Tennis, as Southern Arkansas took on the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech for a Tuesday afternoon Senior Day match. In a narrow finish, and a comeback made by ATU, Southern Arkansas dropped the match with a 4-3 final score.
 
The Blue and Gold started the match hot, as the Muleriders won the doubles point with line one and two wins over the Suns. At line one, the 36th-ranked duo in the nation did what they do, as Taylor Conway and Roksana Kokocha took down Rebecca Arnold and Elis Gergel 7-6. For line two, Jolina Mass and Isabella Lazzerini claimed their second win as a newer pairing, overwhelming Natalya Montoya and Lucia Perez Hruba 6-3.
 
In singles action, Southern Arkansas started hot again after having to surrender a line six singles points due to default, tying the outing at 1-1. The Muleriders' hot start in singles play came at lines one and two, as Mass and Kokocha handled their foes in two sets. Mass went on to defeat her opponent 6-2, 7-5, while Kokocha won 7-5, 6-3.
 
After going up 3-1 on Arkansas Tech, the Golden Suns stormed back with victories at lines three, four, and five. The group ended up having to win lines three and four with tie-breaker sets, giving the Suns a 4-3 final.

Southern Arkansas now looks toward the Great American Conference Championship Tournament, which will be held in Bentonville, Arkansas, on May 1 -3.
