Baseball Set for Final Home Weekend Series of Season

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (22-18, 15-12 GAC) are set for their final home Great American Conference series of the season as they prepare to square off against the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm (24-17, 15-12 GAC). The series will start two days later than originally scheduled due to impending weather on Saturday.
 
With the changes in the schedule for this weekend, Mulerider Baseball's senior day will now be held prior to the start of the 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon double header.
 
Broadcast Information
Sunday and Monday's games will be broadcast on the SAU Hudl Fan page.

>>> The Muleriders enter the weekend with momentum after setting a new season high in runs scored in a game this season against the Mississippi College Choctaws in their midweek matchup. The Muleriders put on an offensive show scoring in every inning except one. The power hitting made a return to the offense also as four different Muleriders hit home runs in the game including, Michael Herndon, Preston Smith, Tate Elliott and Christian Gutierrez. SAU totaled 13 hits in the game marking the 13th time the offense has recorded double digit hits in a game this year.
 
>>> Preston Smith tied a career high four hits in a single game against the Choctaws after setting his mark at four in the first meeting between the two teams. Between the two combined meetings against Mississippi College this year, Smith is 8-for-11 at the plate with two home runs, a triple, and a double. Smith continues to lead the league in triples with seven on the year. His seven also rank him second in Division II and first in Division I.
 
>>> Wyatt Fielding continues to lead the offense with his .396 batting average while also being tied for the team lead in doubles with 12. Michael Herndon leads the team with 36 RBI while Preston Smith leads the offense with seven home runs. Fielding also leads the way with a .632 slugging percentage.
 
>>> The Muleriders pitching staff continues to lead the GAC in team ERA with a mark of 4.81.
 
>>> Nate June leads the way on the mound for the Muleriders with his 3.27 qualifying ERA. Eli Hutcherson leads the way in batters struck out with 52. His mark is good for fifth in the GAC.
 
SE Notables
>>> The Savage Storm come into the series with a 24-17 record overall and are 15-12 in conference play. Southeastern is currently in a three-way tie for fourth in the league with Southern Arkansas and East Central.
 
>>> The Savage Storm come into the series with momentum after taking two of three games from UAM in their last conference series. SE won game one by a score of 10-7, fell in game two 6-5, then going on to win game three 9-6 to take the series from the Boll Weevils. The Savage Storm will be well rested after their midweek against SWOSU was cancelled giving them extra time to tune up before a pivotal series.
 
>>> The Savage Storm offense currently ranks fifth in the league in team batting average as they are hitting .309 as a unit. Carter Olson leads the team in batting average with a mark of .37. Olson also leads the team in home runs with 16 on the year. SE has three players in double digit home run totals including, Carter Olson, JJ Bush, and Ryan Kirk.
 
>>> Dylan Hill leads the pitching staff with his 7.02 qualifying ERA. He is also tied for the team lead in batters struck with 34. Hill also leads the team in innings pitched with 41.
