MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Mulerider Women's Tennis concluded its four-day stretch of contests, as the Blue and Gold took on the Emporia State Hornets for a regional match at the Live Oak Tennis Courts. Southern Arkansas came out on top in the match with a final score of 4-1.
To start up action, the Muleriders won the doubles point, as lines one and two claimed the 1-0 lead. At line one was
Taylor Conway and
Roksana Kokocha defeating Carla Paul Piquer and Yuliya with a final score of 6-3. At line two,
Jolina Mass and
Emilie Senepart took down Giovanna Ferreira and Sheriden Wichman with a 6-4 final.
Four out of the six singles lines finished play before the relinquished match, as
Jolina Mass,
Roksana Kokocha, and
Taylor Conway all helped SAU in clinching the match. Mass at line one went on to defeat Yuliya Klimova with a dominant set one (6-1) and a competitive set two (6-3). Kokocha at line two encountered some push from her opponent Sheriden Wichman, with Kokocha winning her first set with a 6-4 final, but the Poland local went on to win the second set with ease, defeating Wichman 6-1. Conway at line five aided the Blue and Gold to its fourth point to win the match, as the Bixby, Oklahoma native won convincingly with a pair of 6-2 sets against Giulia Russu.
