KINGSVILLE, Texas — Mulerider Volleyball (3-6) finished up competition at the Javelina Volleyball Classic exactly how they'd hope as the group defeated Lake Erie College Saturday morning (Sep. 13). Southern Arkansas controlled the contest through all three sets as the Blue and Gold defeated the Storm 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-8). 

Southern Arkansas jumped out to an early lead with a 4-1 lead with three errors to assist the advantage. LEC went on to tie the set at 8-8 and claimed a brief lead of 9-8 before the Muleriders rattled off a 5-0 stretch to claim and increase a lead to 13-9. The Storm brought the outing back within one (13-12), but the Muleriders would not lose control of their lead as the group handled their business and went not to win the set 25-20.

SAU saw a very similar start to the second set with an early lead, and would go on to add on to that advantage for a 12-5 lead. The squad never let up its lead and with a 5-2 run, the Muleriders claimed set two 25-20. 

The Blue and Gold handled the third set with ease from start to finish as the group reached 10 points before allowing a second point to LEC. Southern Arkansas gained a 17-point lead at 20-3 and finished the contest with the same lead with a 25-8 set three final.

The Muleriders head back home for their first Great American Conference outing as Southern Arkansas sets up to face the reigning GAC champions in Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday night (Sep. 16) at 6:00 PM.
