Team 27 Geared Up for Weekend Series at Ouachita Baptist

MAGNOLIA, Ark. — Mulerider Softball (15-5 | 5-1) is set for their weekend series at Ouachita Baptist (8-12 | 2-4) just over a day from the group's midweek contests in Conway, Arkansas against Lane College. Southern Arkansas will take on the Tigers in a doubleheader on Friday starting at 4:00 PM and then a single game on Sunday at 2:00 PM.

A Glimpse at the Muleriders

In the doubleheader against Lane, the Muleriders circle was highlighted by Brinson Rogers as the senior from Statesboro, Georgia accounted for her second no-hitter of the season and fanned 12 Dragons in the outing with just one walk.

The Mulerider bats were hot all afternoon as Southern Arkansas 21 hits out of the 47 at-bats. Savannah Clausen had probably the most impressive outing of the group as she accounted for five RBI with three hits on four at-bats. Clausen also accounted for one run plated.

With the wind howling in the faces of all, the Blue and Gold used it to their advantage as the unit accounted for four home runs on the day, all coming off the bat of someone different each time. In terms of extra-base hits, the Muleriders knocked ten of those into play, or out of the park, with a triple and five doubles.

A Glimpse at the Tigers

After a solid start to the new season, the Tigers have won and lost a Great American Conference series as Ouachita defeated East Central 2-1 (9-4, 3-7, 5-4) and fell to 17th-ranked Harding 0-3 (6-8, 1-2, 2-5). Most recently, the Tigers are coming off a doubleheader sweep at sixth-ranked Rogers State as the Hellcats defeated Ouachita 1-2 and 10-14.

Between Southern Arkansas and Ouachita Baptist, the Muleriders lead the all-time series 55-27 and have won the last 11 matchups as the Tigers have yet to defeat SAU since the 2021 season. In Arkadelphia, the Muleriders are 27-17.

Ouachita in the circle has been led by Catie Amador. The freshman from Burleson, Texas has pitched 55.2 innings this season and has accounted for a 3.27 ERA. She boasts a win record of 5-5 and has surrendered 64 hits, 33 runs (26 earned), 22 walks, and 18 extra-base hits. She has struck out 33 batters up to this point.

Having started in all 20 contests this season and leading the Tigers in batting average is Baylee King. The sophomore leads the group with a .400 average as she has recorded 24 hits in 60 at-bats with 14 runs plated and four extra-base hits including three doubles and a triple. Ouachita Baptist's to batter for batting in runs is Emily Reed as the Benton, Arkansas native has posted 21 RBI this campaign.
