MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Coach
Jason Anderson's Muleriders are set for a midweek doubleheader this Wednesday as Team 27 of the Mulerider Softball program is scheduled to face Lane College at the City of Colleges Park in Conway, Arkansas with a 2:00 PM start time.
A Glance at the Muleriders
Southern Arkansas is coming off an impressive weekend against the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns as the Muleriders defeated the group from Russellville, Arkansas in a sweep (3-2, 4-3, 4-2).
Also entering the midweek doubleheader is the reigning GAC Pitcher of the Week, and three-time GAC Pitcher of the Week,
Brinson Rogers. The Statesboro, Georgia native enters Wednesday after collecting a pair of wins (8-2 this season) in two complete games (7 this season | 1
st GAC | 13
th DII). Rogers continues to be an elite pitcher in the league as she currently leads the league in strikeouts (75 | 10
th DII) and shutouts with four which is also tied for the national leader in Division II.
Southern Arkansas has proven itself as a resilient defense this season as the group is ranked third nationally for shutouts with six thus far and has the second-best earned run average with 2.09 (25
th DII). As a team, the staff's strikeout-to-walk ratio is the fourth-best in the league with an average of 6.21.
The Muleriders have begun to find their groove when it comes to heating up the bats as the unit has shown glimpses of their power in the box at times, especially in the bottom of the fourth inning in game three against the Golden Suns as the group accounted for four runs on five hits and left just one runner on base. Thanks to the Muleriders' stout defense and play in the circle, the four runs were all that was needed to pull off the sweep.
