Rogers Obtains Fifth GAC and Third NFCA DII Pitcher of the Week Honors

LOUISVILLE, Kent. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has released its weekly honors for player and pitcher of the week, making her third appearance as the Wilson/NFCA DII National Pitcher of the Week is Statesboro, Georgia native Brinson Rogers. The senior has now won the award in back-to-back weeks and continues to extend her program record for most claims of the plaudit in a career and season. Also, for the week, Rogers was named the Great American Conference's Pitcher of the Week and broke the program record for most in a single season, now with five.

Rogers adds insurance to her already shattered record as the senior is the only Mulerider pitcher with multiple National Pitcher of the Week honors from the NFCA, and of course the only one in a single season.

In the previous week, the Peach State native made five appearances with four starts and pitched in 24.0 innings. Rogers completed three games which all resulted in a shutout for the pitcher. In all five appearances, she was credited with a victory with the only oddity coming in game two of the Great American Conference series with Northwestern Oklahoma State. Rogers would not enter the contest till the start of the seventh inning in which the senior led the Muleriders to a 3-2 victory after shutting out the Rangers in her inning of work. For the week, the Georgia native recorded 41 strikeouts with a 13 K and 15 K outing in games one and three against NWOSU. Rogers surrendered just 12 hits in 24.0 innings and no more than three in a game. For the entire week, she did not allow a single run. With the 41 Ks added to her total this season, Rogers leads DII in strikeouts and is once again second in the NCAA, only behind Belmont's Maya Johnson with 156 batters fanned.

Southern Arkansas and the five-time GAC and three-time Wilson/NFCA DII Pitcher of the Week will be back in action this weekend as the Muleriders are set to travel to Weatherford, Oklahoma for their three-game GAC series with the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs.
