MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (15-10, 9-6) get set for a midweek showdown against the Henderson State University Reddies (12-13, 8-7) for a non-conference matchup.
Series History
The Muleriders lead the all-time series against the Reddies with a record of 96-38 and have won the last three games against HSU. The first meeting between the two teams came on March 7th, 1983, an 8-7 Muleriders win. The most recent meeting between the two teams came on May 5th, 2024, a 7-4 Muleriders win in the opening round of the Great American Conference Tournament.
A Look at SAU
The Muleriders are coming off of a 2-2 week which saw victories against No. 4 ranked UT-Tyler by a final score of 8-6 and a game-one win over Northwestern Oklahoma State behind a complete game shut-out performance from
Jeremy Adorno. Despite the two losses for the Muleriders this weekend, they are still tied for second in the GAC with a 9-6 conference record.
Jeremy Adorno had a dominant performance for the Muleriders this weekend, throwing a nine-inning complete game shutout while only allowing three hits and fanning eight batters. His complete game performance was the 13th complete game of his career. Adorno currently sits in second place on the staff with a 3.32 ERA and a 2-2 record. The Kissimmee, Florida native has notched 43.1 innings so far this season to lead the staff along with 49 strikeouts, and also leads the staff.
Austin Adair currently leads the staff with a 2.89 ERA and has a perfect 6-0 record so far.
Lee Matsuzaki currently leads the team with his .373 batting average and has totaled three home runs on the year.
Trace Shoup had an amazing game three of the series against the Rangers going 5-for-5 at the plate with three runs scored, one RBI, and his seventh home run of the year.
Lee Matsuzaki is currently in second with his .363 batting average and leads the team in doubles with 10.
Carter Claerhout also had a good series this weekend with three doubles and was 6-for-13 on the series.
A Look at HSU
The Reddies are coming off of a 2-2 week including them losing their midweek game to Mississippi College by a final score of 8-6 and then winning the first two games of their weekend series with Oklahoma Baptist to clinch the series before falling in game three to the Bison. HSU currently holds a 12-13 overall record and an 8-7 conference record. The Reddies are currently tied for third place in the GAC.
Luke Farrar leads the Reddies offense with a .385 batting average and 37 hits through 25 games. Farrar also leads in RBIs with 2. Jaxson Gregg is second with his .360 batting average. Jeremy Sherlock leads the team in home runs with eight on the season. Cole Rodriguez leads the pitching staff with a 4.03 ERA and has a 3-0 record through seven starts. Rodriguez has thrown 38 innings while fanning 28 hitters thus far. Reese Weaks leads the staff in strikeouts with 32.
