RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced its weekly honors for softball, and being named the GAC Pitcher of the Week for now the fourth time is
Brinson Rogers.
Rogers claims the award for the second week in a row and the second time that she has won the plaudit for back-to-back weeks. In just six weeks, the Statesboro, Georgia native has tied the Mulerider Softball program record for league Pitcher of the Week honors claimed in a season, as she ties Victoria Taylor from 2019 who earned her plaudits in weeks 1, 2, 12, and 13.
For the weekend, Southern Arkansas went 5-0 with a pair of run-rule victories against Lane College and three run-rule triumphs on the road at Ouachita Baptist. Rogers claimed three of those wins in which she pitched 15.0 innings and completed two games while allowing three hits, two wild pitches, one walk, and fanned 32 batters out of the 50 she faced for the week. In the three contests from last week, Rogers recorded an opposing batting average of 0.05. Rogers did not play any more than five innings in all three of her showings.
In NCAA Division II, Rogers leads the division in strikeouts and is by far the leader in the GAC as she is the only member of the conference with at least 100+ strikeouts (107). Second-place in the league has accounted for 79. Not only is she dominating at the DII level, but Rogers is also second-place in the entirety of the NCAA as the only pitcher she trails is Ella Harrison of Rutgers with 124.
Rogers and the Muleriders are back in action on Tuesday, March 11, for the first Tuesday doubleheader against the Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms of the season. The matchups will take place in Monticello, Arkansas starting at 4:00 PM
