Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (9-7, 4-3) fell to the Arkansas Tech University Wonder Boys (6-8, 5-1) in a low scoring affair by a final score of 3-2 in game one of the three game series Friday night.
Jeremy Adorno drew the start for SAU on the mound in game one and quickly threw up zero in the first inning striking out two hitters. The Wonder Boys then struck first in the bottom of the second inning plating one run to take a 1-0 lead after two complete innings. The Muleriders offense did not stay down long as
Trace Shoup tied the game at one all with a home run to left center field, 1-1. The Muleriders then struck again in the top of the fourth inning as
Jayden Hill scored on a pass ball to give SAU their first lead of the game, 2-1.
The bottom of the sixth inning saw the Wonder Boys tie the game at 2-2 as they plated a run on a fielder's choice and after six complete innings the game was tied. Arkansas Tech then retook the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning with another run taking a 3-2 lead. The Muleriders offense was unable to score in the top of the ninth after having two runners on and the Wonder Boys took game one of the series.
Despite the loss,
Jeremy Adorno was fantastic today throwing seven complete innings and allowing two runs while racking up 11 strikeouts. The offense also out hit the Wonder Boys 7-6.
