MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Mulerider Tennis teams battled tough competition in Memphis against West Florida, with the Argonauts ranked #2 nationally on the men's side. The Mulerider Women fell 2-5, while the Mulerider Men suffered a 1-6 defeat.
Maria Fiacan and Roksana Kokocha secured the two points for the Mulerider Women, each winning in a third-set super tiebreaker. Fiacan claimed her victory with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 result on line three, while Kokocha triumphed 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 at line five.
Despite the overall outcome for the men, sophomore Frode Neumann delivered a standout performance by securing a straight-sets victory at number four singles. Neumann triumphed 7-6 (4), 7-5 over his opponent, who is ranked #22 nationally in singles.
The Muleriders return to action next weekend as the women head to Plano, Texas for matchups against Tyler Junior College, St. Petersburg College, and #15 Angelo State. The men are gearing up for their home opener next Sunday (March 2) against Seward and Jacksonville College.
