Chambers claims second GAC Offensive Player of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — The Great American Conference made known its weekly honors for women's basketball and being named the league's GAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season is Tequaza Chambers

The Plain Dealing, Louisiana native is now one of two Muleriders on this campaign's team to have recorded multiple POTW honors along with Marlee Bright who has tallied two Defensive Player of the Week awards this season in the GAC.

Chambers claims her second POTW of the plaudit after accounting for 42 points over the course of two games last weekend while also accounting for her fourth-consecutive 40+ point weekend.

Against Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday night, the senior did not lead the team in scoring for the first time since the first time the Muleriders faced Northwestern Oklahoma State (Jan. 18). Since then, Qua has been Southern Arkansas' top scorer in six straight contests. In the game, she accounted for 16 points after shooting 5-13 and making all five of her free throw attempts.

The following Saturday the Muleriders traveled to Searcy, Arkansas to take on the league's top scoring offense, the Harding Bisons. Chambers stepped up to the challenge and led the game in scoring despite Southern Arkansas dropping the contest. The senior led the game with 26 points on the evening and shot 10-20 while making five-for-six of her free throws.

The Muleriders' next challenge comes to town on Friday, February 21, as Northwestern Oklahoma State enters the W.T. Watson Center for a 5:30 PM tip-off. SAU will then take on Southwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday, February 23, for a 1:00 PM tip-off.
