MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders Men's Basketball (1-2) team fell tonight on the road to the Rogers State University Hillcats (3-1) by a final score of 96-88 despite two 20+ point performances from Greg Moore Jr. (22) and Troy'reon Ramos (21).
The Muleriders came out firing in the first half scoring 44 points in a back-and-forth affair. The Muleriders took their biggest lead of the first half at the 9:00 minute mark in the game as JaKourion Key threw down a dunk to give SAU a 13-point lead, 29-16. The Hillcats did not go away quietly though as a late surge pulled them within two before intermission. The Blue and Gold went into the half with a 44-42 lead.
Rogers State came out carrying momentum and didn't look back as SAU only held the lead once in the second half at the 18:04 mark by a score of 47-46. The high scoring affair then took shape as both teams traded three's and transition buckets, but SAU was outscored in the second half 54-44 as Rogers State walked away with a win.
The Muleriders finished the game shooting 52.7% from the field and 38.9% from three-point range. Troy'reon Ramos lit up the stat sheet with 21-points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Ramos led the team in all three categories outside of points. Greg Moore Jr. led the team in scoring with 22-points while also scoring his 1,000th career point in the game. JaKourion Key also finished scoring in double digits with 12 of his own.
