Mulerider Volleyball claims road victory over Central Baptist

Box Score

CONWAY, Ark. — Mulerider Volleyball wrapped up their outing in the City of Colleges as the group traveled to Conway where they would face the Central Baptist College Mustangs. Southern Arkansas ventured into Reddin Fieldhouse for the just the unit's fifth trip to Conway to face the Mustangs. The Blue and Gold exited the City of Colleges with their sixth victory of the year in sweeping fashion for the Muleriders' second-straight triumph and sweep.

For scoring, the Muleriders were once again led by Allie Cooper, as the junior recorded 12 kills on 23 attacks and with just two attack errors. With that, the Brownsboro, Texas native accounted for an attack percentage of .435 and tallied her fourth-straight match with a .400 hitting percentage or better.

The Muleriders saw a pair in second for scoring with Jessica Porten and Kendall Tolliver each recorded eight-kill evenings with Porten accounting for a .438 attack percentage after tallying 16 attacks and just one attack error.

First Set (W, 25-17)

The Muleriders entered set one and wanted to set the tone as they began their search to sweep the Mustangs for the season. However, CBC had other plans as the group jumped out to a 3-2 advantage quickly over SAU. Addison Anderson began the winning run for the Muleriders as the group jumped out in front 8-3. Despite the Mustangs attempting to come back in the set, the Blue and Gold shutdown any counters by winning the set 25-17.

Second Set (W, 25-21)

After early separation in set one, the Mustangs made sure to not be left behind in the second set. So much so, that CBC actually gained a lead by as much as 14-7 against the Muleriders in the second set. Southern Arkansas looked to gain some experience in resilience after going down big while on the road and did just that as the group came all the way back and eventually tied the set at 21-21 and went on to win the set 25-21.

Third Set (W, 28-26)

While no team gained a lead like either group in the earlier sets, the two teams played neck and neck all throughout the third set as both teams went to extra points as the Muleriders eventually jumped out to a two-point lead and win with kills by Allie Cooper and Addison Anderson

Southern Arkansas is back home inside the W.T. Watson Center and looks to keep up their winning ways as they welcome Southeastern Oklahoma State and East Central for this Thursday (6:00 PM) and Friday (4:00 PM).
