MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Men's Basketball program announced today the addition of Connor Cameron to the staff as a graduate assistant coach for the 2025-26 season.
 
Cameron comes to Magnolia after serving as student assistant for men's basketball at the University of Louisiana Lafayette and Louisiana Tech. The Monroe, Louisiana native then went on to be the Assistant Head Coach at Calhoun Middle School.  
 
During Cameron's time at Louisiana-Lafayette, the Ragin' Cajuns held a 42-23 record overall with back-to-back Sunbelt tournament championships appearances and winning the Sunbelt in 2022-23 qualifying them to make an appearance in NCAA tournament. Cameron also worked with the Lou Henson Player of the Year, Jordan Brown in that same year.
 
While at Louisiana Tech, the Bulldogs held a 22-10 record while also having the Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in Isiah Crawford.
 
"We are very excited to announce the addition of Connor Cameron to our Mulerider staff," stated Head Coach Mark Rutledge. "His experience at Louisiana Tech and the University of Louisiana-Lafayette really impressed us. He also adds to the winning theme having secured a conference tournament championship title with the Ragin' Cajuns. Coach Cameron's recruiting ties run deep in the state of Louisiana as he also is well connected in the Southern Arkansas area. With his passion for recruitment, player development, and character building, we knew he'd be the perfect fit."
 
The Muleriders tip-off their season with an exhibition on November 3rd against Houston Christian. The season will then officially get under way as they travel to Pittsburg, Kansas to play Winona State for the first game of the season.
