RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference (GAC) named its weekly honors for volleyball. Claiming a pair of awards for the week were Mulerider Volleyball's
Brinklee Dauenhauer and
Sadie Kabisch, as Dauenhauer was named co-Offensive Player of the Week and Kabisch earned Defensive Player of the Week.
A native of Springtown, Texas, Dauenhauer was awarded the honor and is the first Mulerider Volleyball player to claim it since
Kayte Delong did so on October 9, 2023. The junior obtained the award after tying and breaking records within the program. Both of those record-book-shifting performances came in one performance against the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm on Thursday evening (October 9). Dauenhauer accounted for 28 kills (ties program record for a single match) and delivered those 28 kills on 76 attack attempts (new program record for single match), while also recording 13 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Against East Central on Friday, Brinklee recorded another 10+ kills game with 16 and tallied 23 digs (led team) along with it for her fifth double-double of the season. For the entire week, Dauenhauer recorded 47 kills (3.92 per set) on 131 attacks with a .229 attack percentage. While Dauenhauer's 28 kills ended up tying the single-match program record, it was also the first time a Mulerider had even tied the amount in just over 20 years, since Brandi Beeson secured the record in 2005.
A native of Henrietta, Texas, Kabisch claims her second GAC Defensive Player of the Week award of the season and is the first Mulerider Volleyball player to record multiple Defensive POTWs in one campaign since now Graduate Assistant
Lauryn Moultrie earned the accomplishment back in 2023 (Oct. 2 | Oct. 23). To claim the honor, Kabisch also accounted for a record-book-shifting performance the same night a Dauenhauer, as the libero tallied 44 digs against the Savage Storm on her way to a 67 dig week in which she only saw two full matches of action. Those 44 digs the senior recorded against SE tied for the second-most digs accounted for in a single match. Sadie now ties in second in the program with Hannah Rice and Mallory KcKee.
Southern Arkansas now prepares for the group's first and only GAC Oklahoma road trip, as the Muleriders get set to face Oklahoma Baptist (Shawnee, Okla.) on Thursday at 6:00 PM and travel the next day to play Southern Nazarene (Bethany, Okla.) on Friday at 4:00 PM.
