Mulerider Women set for action at GAC Championship

Southern Arkansas eyes opportunity against league foes

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The postseason has arrived and Southern Arkansas Women's Golf is set for the Great American Conference Championship from The Club at Forest Ridge in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Round one of the 54-hole action convenes on Sunday, April 21 with rounds two and three contested on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Live scoring is available at www.MuleriderAthletics.com.
 
The SAU Women have shown much improvement this season under the leadership of fourth-year head coach Neriah Brown and assistant coach Hutch Preston. The Muleriders have shaved five strokes off of their collective team scoring average in comparison to a season ago and enter the league tournament with an average round score of 325.7. The young squad holds the #22 ranking in the Central Region and has defeated twenty opponents this campaign including a season-high five at the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational.
 
"This is only the second tournament with our full lineup healthy," noted Brown. "Everyone has looked good in practice, so I'm excited to see how we perform."
 
Bag #1 Emma Hester
Hester is among the top 100 golfers in the Central Region. Her scoring average of 79.9 in 21 rounds played this season leads the team. Hester has posted four top 25 finishes including a season-best 15th of 85 golfers at the NSU Women's Classic in September.
 
Bag #2 Aubrey Marx
Marx sits just outside the top 100 golfers in the region at #105. She holds a scoring average of 81.7 and has earned three top 25 finishes this season. A season-best 12th place was recorded by Marx at SAU's Arkansas Collegiate. An 18th place finish at the Tulsa Cup saw Marx best a season-high 84 competitors.
 
Bag #3 Taylor Rich
Rich sits inside the region's top 135. In 21 rounds played, she is averaging 82.9 with 175 competitors defeated including a season-high 38 at the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational.
 
Bag #4 Taylor-Rose Hubbard
First-semester Mulerider Taylor-Rose Hubbard averages 80 per round and she enters the championship tournament off of her spring-best effort of 22nd of 95 at the ATU Spring Invitational. In just four tournaments, Hubbard has collected 135 wins.
 
Bag #5 Aurea Carlisle
Carlisle holds a scoring average of 84.1 in 17 total rounds played this season. She has defeated 101 opponents with a pair of top 35 placements.
 
Bag #6 Kelsey Saveall
Saveall serves as the alternate for the Mulerider Women. In 21 total rounds, she is averaging 88.7 with 55 victories.
