Box Score 2 CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Muleriders needed a huge bounce-back following the series loss to Southern Nazarene last weekend as they traveled to Delta State where they claimed a pair of wins against the Lady Statesmen by finals of 15-3 (5) and _-_. With the victories, Southern Arkansas advances to 20-9 and holds a 9-5 Great American Conference record (4th) as they prepare for their hardest league test yet with the conference leading Oklahoma Baptist (18-7 | 12-1 GAC) enters Dawson Field this coming weekend.
Game One
SAU won 15-3 (5)
Sydney Ward earned her tenth win of the campaign as she pitched four innings while allowing just three hits against 19 batters faced. Ward surrendered the three runs earned by the Lady Statesmen, but was granted the win due to the Mulerider offense handling their business with nine hits and just five runners left on base. The senior struck out four batters
Regan Dillon made sure Southern Arkansas won big as she recorded three runs, three RBIs, three hits, and one home run on four at-bats. The junior Jenna Huey contributed in a big way as she accounted for a grand slam and a three-run dinger for her two hits out of her four at-bats while also recording seven putouts. Due to the Muleriders' superior batting and pitching, Southern Arkansas scored in four of their five innings to run-rule Delta State in game one of the doubleheader.
Game Two
SAU won 9-0
The contest that preceded played out a full seven innings as the Muleriders held control of the outing and were highlighted by the tremendous dealing by Brinson Rogers as the junior out of Statesboro, Georgia retired nine of her 23 batters faced while only allowing four hits in 5.0 innings played. Morgan McAlexander came in for the junior in the sixth to close the contest and did just so as she struck out three of her nine batters faced while allowing just one hit.
Southern Arkansas saw less scoring, but still no shortage of offensive power in game two as they were led by Ariana Rolle who accounted for three hits on her five at-bats. Rolle recorded a pair of runs batted in as a part of the nine runs scored in the outing. Three batters in Dillon, Huey, and Cassidy Lear all were responsible for bombs as accounted for a two-run dinger in the top of the first inning. Southern Arkansas tallied a total of 11 hits against Delta State in the second contest.
