Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Arkansas needed a pair of wins against the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene, but was unable to do so as SNU earned the series sweep after defeating the Muleriders 9-0 (5) in game two and 1-0 in game three. With the losses, SAU falls to 18-9 overall with a 9-5 record within the Great American Conference.
The Muleriders now drop to fourth in the league behind Harding (9-4 GAC) who will play their final series outing against Southwestern Oklahoma State tomorrow (Mar. 17). Southern Nazarene now moves up to 10-3 and second in the conference with Oklahoma Baptist holding down the top of the league with a 12-1 GAC record.
Game Two
L, SNU won 9-0 (5)
The Muleriders were overwhelmed by an imposing offensive power from the Crimson Storm as Southern Arkansas surrendered ten hits with nine runs and all nine being earned. Brinson Rogers started the outing as she pitched the first three innings uninterrupted as Corie Byrd entered the contest, but Rogers would soon re-enter the ballgame after four runs were conceded to begin the bottom of the fourth.
The Muleriders batting saw early bursts, but was soon defeated by Southern Nazarene pitcher Katelynn Woodard who made her fifth start of the season.
Game Three
L, SNU won 1-0
Batting in game three did not come often as there was just three hits total with Southern Nazarene recording the majority with two and Southern Arkansas accounting for just one via Ariana Rolle.
Sydney Ward started the final outing of the series as she pitched a solid complete game as she allowed just two hits, one earned run, and a couple walks. Ward struck out five of the 23 batters she faced.
The Crimson Storm claimed the early lead in the bottom of the second inning as SNU batted in the only run for the contest as Southern Nazarene's Janie Worthington completed the game allowing just one hit, one walk, and recording six strikeouts.
