#19 Muleriders drop game one against Crimson Storm

Box Score

BETHANY, Okla. - The Muleriders wrapped up game one of their Great American Conference series against the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm. Southern Arkansas began their second league road trip falling in the series opener against the squad out of the Sooner State as the Muleriders dropped game one by a final of 2-3 and are now 9-3 in conference play.

SAU struggled at the plate for their meeting with the Crimson Storm as the Muleriders recorded a batting average of .192 with just five hits coming off of 26 at-bats. Grad. Ariana Rolle accounted for the majority of the hits provided as she was responsible for a pair of Southern Arkansas' base hits on four at-bats while also recording a run and a run batted in.

Of the 26 Mulerider at-bats, ten were retired via strikeout as Southern Nazarene's Olivia Hernandez and Janie Worthington were responsible for the defensive stand by the Crimson Storm.

Neither team really had a grasp on the batting portion of the game as Southern Arkansas did out-hit SNU, but at the same surrendered three errors in which two resulted in Southern Nazarene scores.

Sydney Ward received the loss as she started the outing, but only conceded one earned run. Senior pitcher Morgan McAlexander entered the fray down 1-3 in the third inning with one out left. The New Boston, Texas native arrived with a pair of runners on base and after the batter reached first on an error, the runner from second took the risk of going home where Haley Nillen secured the out and got out of the inning.

McAlexander saw an impressive outing for her 3.1 innings played as she did not allow any hits, walks, or runs as well as striking out three batters and being responsible for five fly outs and a single ground out against the ten batters she faced.

The Muleriders are back in action tomorrow to finish up their series against the Crimson Storm in a doubleheader starting at 12:00 PM. For more on upcoming events, check out www.MuleriderAthletics.com
