Muleriders defeat East Central

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas made its way back home inside the W.T. Watson Center Thursday night for a Community Night matchup against Great American Conference foe, East Central. The Muleriders have been in search of a tide-changer, and they found what they were looking for on February 8 as Southern Arkansas outlasted the Tigers by a score of 59-53 to advance to 10-11 on the season and earn their first conference victory since defeating ECU in Ada, Oklahoma during early January.

TOP PERFORMERS
Diamond Morris once again led the Muleriders in scoring with a 13-point effort as she recorded her 17th game accounting for ten or more points while also recording her eighth straight game with double-digit scoring. Addy Tremie followed Morris with a ten-point game along with Tequaza Chambers and Sihirah Reese each accounting for eight points. Jessica Clemons led the team in rebounds with ten to her merit. Morris took charge in stealing the ball as she accounted for four and Marlee Bright with three of her own.

The Muleriders scored 32 points in the paint as well 27 points off turnovers. The Muleriders shot 40.7% from the field after making 22 of their 54 attempts. From the charity stripe, SAU knocked down 54.2% of their shots (13-24). While the Tigers shooting percentages were greater than Southern Arkansas' (40.8 FG%, 28.6 3PT%, 60.0 FT%) the Muleriders 14 steals would prevent the Tigers from pulling one over SAU inside the W.T. Watson Center.
