MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Mulerider Men's and Women's Track and Field is rolling back into action following a week off from competition. The squads are prepped and ready for their second trip to Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kansas for the Ninth Annual Gorilla Indoor Classic hosted in the Robert W. Plaster Center. Events are set to transpire over the course of two days (Friday and Saturday | Feb. 9-10).
The action set for Friday will see field events beginning around 2 p.m., with the track events following soon after at 3 p.m. Saturday will begin in the late morning with track events resuming at 11 a.m. with field events starting at noon.
The indoor meet is set to host many squads out of Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, and NJCAA.
Of the Muleriders that saw top-twenty placements at the Wendy's/Pitt State Invitational two weeks ago, Wesley Maxwell, Christian Johnson, Ja'Kamron Zackery, and Trevon Hill all return to the Sunflower State for their third indoor meet of 2024. Two weeks back, the women earned seven spots within the top-twenty at the Wendy's/PSU Invite. The Mulerider women return Kamryn Floyd, Logan Warren, Irieyanna Wilson, and Kailyn Thomas of those seven women to place in the top-twenty.
Zackery makes his way back as the lone Mulerider man to place in the top-ten of a competition in the weight throw after tossing for 55' 10.25" for a ninth-place spot.
Floyd makes her way back to Kansas in her freshmen season after she placed fifth in the qualifying round of the 60-meter dash (7.69) to then place 11th in the preliminaries (7.67).
