MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Three hard-fought sets took place in the W.T. Watson Center to wrap up the 2024 season's Mulerider Volleyball Pink Out Weekend. The conference favorites, Oklahoma Baptist, entered Columbia County and exit with a 3-0 victory against Southern Arkansas as the two squads battled it out in front the Mulerider home crowd.
 
Southern Arkansas pushed the reigning GAC champs, and preseason favorites, in all three sets played on the Muleriders home court, but SAU ended up dropping each set narrowly as the Blue and Gold went to extras for the set one (27-25), dropped set two by just three points, and fell in the final set by five. With the loss, Mulerider Volleyball now drops five-straight and their second-consecutive game at home.
 
Four Muleriders produced seven-plus kills in the contest with Isla Olivas leading that charge with nine kills and three errors on just 16 attacks (.375). With a service ace and solo block, the senior from Fort Worth, Texas recorded a team-high 11.0 points.
 
Senior setter Macie Shaver led the group in assists once again as she put up 18 sets for points, seven digs, and a kill to cap off her night. True freshman McKenna Edwards made her way into the lineup and produced 13 assists of her own along with five digs and one kill.
 
Southern Arkansas will hit the road to the Sooner State for the final time this season next weekend as they continue to look for their bounce back against either East Central (Oct. 24 | Thu.) or Southeastern Oklahoma State (Oct. 25 | Fri.)
