Muleriders drop weekend slate in Oklahoma

DURANT, Okla. — Mulerider Volleyball falls to the Tigers and Savage Storm to cap off the Sooner State stretch of the 2024 season as East Central outlasted Southern Arkansas in four sets while Southeastern controlled the match in a three set victory for the Storm. SAU now falls to 9-10 with a 3-8 record in the conference.

For the weekend, the Muleriders were led in scoring by the senior out of Overland Park, Kansas, Kayte Delong. The Sunflower State native accounted for 22 kills on 56 attacks and acquired just one attack error. Her statistics resulted in a strong .375 hitting percentage that primarily came out of Thursday night's contest at ECU with her 15 kills on 34 attacks and no errors (.441). Delong also played a hand in defense as she knocked back three block assists.

Leading the Muleriders in blocking was the senior from Fairburn, Georgia, Lauryn Moultrie. The Peach State native recorded four total blocks with a pair of solos and assists for the weekend. She was also a key scorer for the Blue and Gold as she accounted for 13 kills on 27 attacks and just three errors (.370). With that, she notched the second-best attack percentage of the team with at least double-digit attacks.

Southern Arkansas makes their trip back home for a spooktacular night against the Ouachita Baptist Tigers on Halloween night (Thursday) at 6:00 PM inside the W.T. Watson Center.
