ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Entering its Great American Conference series with Ouachita, #24 Southern Arkansas needed three wins in Arkadelphia in order to keep pace near the top of the Great American Conference standings. Ninth-year head coach 
Jason Anderson's squad delivered a sweep of the Tigers as the Muleriders opened the series by taking both ends of Saturday's doubleheader with results of 4-2 and 7-3, before finishing off Ouachita 7-1 in the finale to improve to 26-10 overall and 14-6 in league play; one game back of a current three-way tie for first place.
SAU's opening win of the weekend was a historic one for Anderson who notched career victory No. 650. In nearly a decade in Magnolia, Anderson has recorded 345 wins at Southern Arkansas.
Alyssa Miller and 
Jaxynn Dyson led the SAU offense over the weekend. Miller recorded seven hits in 11 at bats and scored a team-high four times. Dyson, along with 
Mariah Hamilton and 
Kamryn Moctezuma, registered five hits. Dyson left the yard twice, finished with a team-leading six RBI and scored three times to match 
Ariana Rolle in times crossing home. Moctezuma followed with three RBI. 
Gracie King also homered in the series.
In the circle, Southern Arkansas benefitted from solid relief efforts from 
Morgan McAlexander and 
Maci McJunkins. McAlexander appeared twice totaling 3.1 innings and did not allow a hit or a run as she earned the save in the 4-2 win in the series opener. McJunkins tossed three innings allowing just two hits in SAU's 7-3 victory which gave the Muleriders the DH sweep.
Baylie Thornhill won twice including a complete game win in the series finale. She totaled a dozen strikeouts to just two walks over 9.1 innings. 
Sydney Ward won once as she scattered six hits over 5.1 innings in the series opener.
The Muleriders scored a combined ten runs over the first three innings of the series and added a combined eight runs over the final three innings. SAU combined for 37 hits of which 11 went for extra bases and walked six times to just four strikeouts in 104 total plate appearances. The aforementioned four Mulerider arms combined for 20 strikeouts to seven walks and allowed only six runs in 21 innings.
Southern Arkansas plays host to Arkansas Tech on April 7 and 8 in Magnolia. The series with the Golden Suns commences Friday with a 5 p.m. first pitch with Saturday's doubleheader set for a 2 p.m. start. Live coverage links are available at
