SEARCY, Ark. – Southern Arkansas hit the road to White County where after a competitive first period, the Muleriders suffered their first loss of the season falling to the Harding Bisons 51-78. With the loss, Southern Arkansas' record moves to 6-1 in the season while now having a conference record of 1-1.
In the opening period of play, SAU outscored their longtime opponent 18-14, and looked to have a path to overcoming the in-state foe for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign. Following from this point, the reigning Great American Conference player of the year, Sage Hawley, put on a clinic as she shot 14-26, 5-5 from the line, recorded 16 rebounds, and 33 points.
TOP PERFORMERS
Diamond Morris led the crew in scoring as she accounted for the only double-digit day on the team with 16 point. She also tied for the most rebounds among the 'Riders with
Tequaza Chambers recording four boards each. Chambers also led the group in assists with three.
Sihirah Reese led SAU in steals as she tallied three to finish the game. From the stripe, Southern Arkansas had their best percentage so far this season making nine of their eleven attempts (81.8%).
