MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Mulerider Women's Basketball earned their fourth victory of the '23-24 campaign while also recording their second century-mark game as they defeated the Centenary College Ladies inside the W.T. Watson center Saturday afternoon. The Muleriders knocked off the Ladies 101-50. Southern Arkansas cruised to the large margin of victory thanks to an early 29-7 first quarter, a 24-17 second, a 25-14 third, and a 23-12 fourth.
SAU saw four players see double-figures in the contest led by junior transfer
Tequaza Chambers with 16 points, two assists, and a rebound.
Zykeria Anderson showed up and showed out with 14 points and three steals.
Riley Stanford accounted for 11 points with a couple steals and rebounds. Freshman
Kyleigh Scoggins recorded her first double-digit ballgame as she was responsible for ten points with four assists and two steals. SAU outscored Centenary 53-24 at halftime.
The Muleriders shot 48.6% of their field goal opportunities (36-74) while making 32% of their three-pointers (8-25). Southern Arkansas was 21-30 from the line making 70% of their free throws. SAU recorded 31 rebounds (18 offensive | 13 defensive) and only allowed 45 shot attempts in which 18 were made. The Muleriders held the lead for 97.4% of the competition.
Southern Arkansas next scheduled contest is set for 5:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in Memphis, Tennessee where they will face-off with the Christian Brothers Lady Bucs for just the second time since SAU's departure from the Gulf South Conference.
