RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference released the weekly volleyball honors, and making the list for her second time this season is junior
Lauryn Moultrie for Defensive Player of the Week.
With the honor, Southern Arkansas has now received its fifth POTW title of the 2023 chapter in the Head Coach
Alli O'Banion story. The 2023 Riders have now tied with the 2014 squad and are just one weekly-award shy of the 2015 Volleyball crew.
Moultrie, native of Fairburn, Georgia, earned her second defensive player of the week honor due her stellar performances against two foes that each have a top-five attacker within the conference. Southern Arkansas' defensive effort came in clutch against two teams that SAU has not defeated both in the same year since the 2014 season when the Riders defeated NWOSU and SWOSU on the road (Oct. 3-4).
Moultrie earned her second weekly honor after she was responsible for 11 total blocks (1 solo | 10 assisted) of the team's 17.0 total blocks over the two contests. She accounted for ten digs, two service aces, 19 points, and 11 kills in which she delivered a very crucial one to start a 4-0 run in the fifth set against Southwestern Oklahoma State (Oct. 20) for SAU to gain the lead.
Moultrie and her teammates look towards the final stretch of the 2023 chapter as they prepare for Natural State opponents once more on the road against Arkansas Tech. For all things related to Mulerider Volleyball, click the link at
