RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference has announced the league's weekly honors and finding herself on the list is the junior from Fairburn, Georgia, Lauryn Moultrie. Moultrie has been tagged as the conference defensive player of the week thanks to her performances against GAC foes Henderson State (Sept. 26) and Ouachita Baptist (Sept. 28).
 
With the Peach State native's honoring, this marks the first time since 2021 that multiple Muleriders have taken home player of the week honors in the same season. It is also the first instance since 2014 that Muleriders have earned league honors in back-to-back weeks. Moultrie is the first Southern Arkansas volleyball player to be name GAC Defensive Player of the Week since Hannah Rice claimed the title in 2015.
 
The junior secured the award after she recorded 12 total blocks in the last week matchups against the Clark County foes. Against the Reddies, Moultrie tallied four total blocks in the match. On Thursday night inside the W.T. Watson Center, she knocked down 8 total blocks on the night (2 solo | 6 assisted) which is a new collegiate career-high for Moultrie.
 
The Muleriders will be back at home as they continue preparations for the Savage Storm out of Southeastern Oklahoma State on Thursday, October 5 at 6:00 p.m. The following day, Southern Arkansas will face-off against the East Central Tigers inside the W.T.
