Canadian claims third all-league honor of his career

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – On Saturday evening, the eve of the Great American Conference Men's & Women's Golf Championships, the league announced its superlative award winners, all-conference teams and notable scholar-athletes and among those honored were a trio of Southern Arkansas Muleriders. Senior Roman Timmerman earned the third All-GAC honor of his career as he was named a second team performer, while junior Connor Harrington and sophomore Taylor Rich were both named GAC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes.

Twice this season Timmerman fired a 68 or better with the first instance coming in the second round of the season: a 65 at the 23rd Annual NSU Golf Classic which matched the program-low round and program-low round vs. par at -6. He recorded four top 15 finishes this season with three landing him inside the top 10 of the leaderboard. He produced a season-best fourth place finish overall at the Oak Tree Invitational after shooting 70-71-74 to finish as the top Central Region performer among 39 such foes.

In all eight tournaments, Timmerman never finished outside the top 30 of the individual leaderboard and owns a finish percentage of 82.3% against 673 total opponents faced in 2021-22. The Canadian leads the team in birdies with 56.

For Harrington, his 2021-22 season saw the Magnolia native compete in six tournaments and log top 30 regional finishes in five of those with a season-best showing among regional competition coming with a finish of 25th at the Natural State Golf Classic. Harrington has shot 75 or better in seven of his 16 rounds played this season and owns a solid average score of 77.75 entering the league championships.

A 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 At-Large selection, Harrington is a Mathematics major with a minor in Education as well as a Sports Management Major with an Athletic Administration emphasis. He currently holds a 3.95 GPA.
