#25 Muleriders Look for Bounce Back against Reddies

MAGNOLIA – The SAU Softball team, ranked 25th in the country, is back in action this weekend, hosting Henderson State in a three-game conference series, with the double-header starting at 2 p.m. on Friday before the series closes with a single game on Saturday.

The Reddies are 10-17 overall and 7-10 in conference play. They, like the Muleriders, opened their season back in January against Delta State, with the Reddies splitting the double-header with the Lady Statesmen.

Their season has included a pair of losing streaks of 10 and six games, respectively, but are currently on a one-game winning streak after taking two of three games from SWOSU last weekend.

At the plate, the Reddies are hitting .269 as a team with 12 homeruns; they are led at the plate by Kaitlyn O'Quinn's .385 batting average and Abbie Moore's three homeruns and 14 RBIs, both team highs.

In the circle, the Reddies pitching staff has a 4.91 ERA, striking out 106 batters in 178.1 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .322 against the Reddies. Mallory Brewer is the leader inside the circle, making 16 appearances with a 4-7 record and a 4.13 ERA. She has 58 of the teams' 106 strikeouts and is responsible for 79.2 innings inside the circle this season.

The Muleriders are coming off a rough week where they dropped a game to #2 Texas A&M-Commerce before dropping two of three games to GAC leaders Southeastern Oklahoma State.

Overall, the Muleriders are 10-6 on the season and 7-4 in conference play. The Muleriders are hitting .284 as a team with 15 homeruns and 83 runs scored. Jaxynn Dyson and Alese Casper lead the team with a .367 batting average; Dyson also leads the team with four homeruns and 13 RBIs, while Laina Suesue isn't too far behind, batting .365 with three homeruns and 11 RBIs.

In the circle, the Muleriders have a 3.09 ERA and an opponent batting average of .230. Sydney Wader is leading the team with 49.2 innings pitched, owning a 1.81 ERA and a 4-3 record.
