Shawnee, Okla. – The SAU Softball team, ranked 22
nd in the country and in the midst of an eight-game winning streak, look to continue their winning ways when they take on Oklahoma Baptist in a three-game conference series in Shawnee.
The Bison are 18-13 overall on the season and 13-11 in conference play. They are 10-6 on the season inside the Bison Softball Park.
The Bison are hitting .279 as a team, scoring 133 runs and hitting 19 homeruns as a team. They are led by Kylie Kawamura who is hitting a team-high .383 at the plate this season.
In the circle, Kayleigh Jones owns a 2.28 ERA and has 12 of the Bison' 18 wins this season. As a staff, the Bison have a 3.53 ERA with 209 strikeouts in 206 innings pitched.
The Muleriders are 18-6 on the season and 14-4 in conference play; they are 9-3 in their 12 road games this season.
As a team, the Muleriders are hitting .299 with 31 homeruns and 141 runs scored. Four Muleriders are hitting over .300 on the season, led by center fielder
Alese Casper's .392 average.
Jaxynn Dyson and
Laina Suesue aren't too far behind with averages of .373 and .364, respectively. The top two hitters in the lineup, Dyson and Suesue are responsible for 11 of the team's 31 homeruns.
The Mulerider pitching staff owns a 2.02 ERA on the season, striking out 162 batters in 159.2 innings pitched.
Sydney Wader (1.93 ERA),
Victoria Taylor (2.07 ERA) and
Elisa Favela (2.66 ERA) have all returned to peak form inside the circle, only allowing 18 extra-base hits in 585 at-bats.
Reliever
Landry Newgent has only allowed two hits in eight innings this season inside the circle, owning an opponent batting average of .080.
