Russellville, Ark. – The SAU Baseball team took the series finale against Arkansas Tech on Sunday, salvaging a series that saw them lose both games in the double-header yesterday.
The scoring started for the Muleriders in the top of the first inning when
Conner Allen scored on an Arkansas Tech fielding error.
Tucker Burton hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot in the third inning, to double the lead for the visitors. On the season, Burton owns a team-best .407 batting average.
An
Austin Baker RBI double in the third inning was followed by a
Kobe Morris RBI single that scored Baker to once again double the lead, this time to 4-0.
An Arkansas Tech solo homerun pulled back a run, but the sixth homerun of the season for catcher
Brett McGee, a two-run shot, put the score on the final of 6-1.
On the mound,
James Janco picked up his second win of the season, turning in a quality start. The junior pitcher went 6.2 innings, only allowing the one run, four hits and three walks while striking out three batters.
Santos Sosa relieved Janco for the final 2.2 innings, striking out a pair of batters.
The Muleriders improve to 5-4 on the season and 3-3 in conference play. They play at home for the first time this season when they host Texas A&M-Texarkana on Tuesday.
