Dyson’s walk-off powers Muleriders to split with Storm

MAGNOLIA – The SAU Softball team split their double-header with GAC leaders Southeastern Oklahoma State, with the Muleriders taking game one on a walk-off before the Storm came back and took game two.

Southeastern started the scoring in the fourth inning, with a walk and an error preceding a 2-run single; however, the Muleriders were quick to respond.

The bottom of the inning saw Alese Casper draw a walk before Christina Hill sneaked a homerun over the right-center fence to even the score.

The game stayed deadlocked at 2-all through seven innings.

In extra innings, the Muleriders loaded the bases in the eighth inning but were unable to push across the decisive run, and in the ninth inning, Hill doubled to lead off the inning and with two outs, Dyson launched her fourth homerun of the season over the left center fence to give the Muleriders a 4-2 victory.

The Muleriders started the scoring in game two, with Elisa Favela driving in a run on a double. The Storm evened up the game in the third on an RBI single; Faith Otts hit her own RBI single in the bottom of the frame to give the lead back to the Muleriders.

However, the Storm would score the final five runs of the game, finishing the game with a score of 6-2.

Sydney Wader picked up the win in game one, pitching all nine innings and only allowing two runs (both unearned). She only allowed four hits and a walk and struck out eight.

The series finishes tomorrow at noon.
