MAGNOLIA – The SAU Softball team hosts their first conference series of the season this weekend when they host GAC leaders Southeastern Oklahoma in a three-game conference series.
This weekend, the two teams will play the double-header on Friday and a single game on Saturday due to inclement weather expected in the area.
The Storm are 17-2 overall on the season and 9-1 in conference play. Their two losses have come at the hands of Southern Nazarene and #14 Texas A&M-Kingsville, whom the Storm played one day before the Muleriders played the Javelinas last week.
As a team, the Storm lead the conference in team batting average (.339) and slugging percentage (.499). In the circle, they have a 2.37 ERA with 95 strikeouts in 124 innings pitched.
The Muleriders are 9-4 on the season and 6-2 in conference play; they have dropped conference games to Arkansas-Monticello and Ouachita Baptist, as well as games to ranked opponents in Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M-Commerce.
The Muleriders are hitting .295 as a team with 13 homeruns in 13 games so far. They are slugging .475 and have drawn more walks and hit by pitches (77) than strikeouts (59).
Jaxynn Dyson, recently promoted to the leadoff spot in the lineup, is hitting .378 on the season. The Illinois native has a team-high three homeruns and a .676 slugging percentage.
Alese Casper and
Sarah Evans are also hitting above .350, with Casper at .375 and Evans at .353; catcher
Laina Suesue isn't too far behind her teammates, hitting .349 on the season.

Sydney Wader has been dealing, owning a 1.87 ERA and four complete games inside the circle. The Mulerider pitching staff has a 2.98 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 84.2 innings this season.
Following this weekend, the Muleriders will host Arkansas Tech in a non-conference double-header on Tuesday before hosting Henderson State at the weekend.
