Arkadelphia – The SAU Women's Basketball team, playing Henderson State for the second time in a week, led most of the way in Saturday's contest in Arkadelphia. Unfortunately after the first quarter, the Reddies shot 57.4 percent from the field as they slowly clawed their way back from a nine-point deficit in the first quarter.
With the lead going back and forth in the final few minutes of the game, the difference in the game proved to be Maci Mains hitting a pair of free throws with 0.2 seconds left after a foul was called on
Kisi Young on Mains' final shot attempt.
Ariana Guinn led all scorers with a career-high 21 points on 7-13 shooting from the field. The junior guard went 3-5 from three-point range and made all four of her free throw attempts. Her previous career high came on November 11
th, 2018 when Guinn scored 18 points in a win over Southeastern Baptist inside the W. T. Watson Center.
Diamond Morris and
Kenzie Ezekiel joined Guinn in scoring double figures. Morris had 14 points while Ezekiel scored 11, shooting 3-5 from three. Ezekiel also dished out a team-high four assists while Guinn grabbed a team-high two steals.
Kisi Young led the Muleriders' effort on the glass with six rebounds, five of which were offensive; and
Lillie Moore blocked a pair of shots in the paint for the Muleriders.
The Muleriders are now 2-5 on the season and 1-5 in conference play; they return to action on Thursday in Searcy to face Harding.
