Muleriders Unable to Overcome Second-Half Scoring Barrage Versus Bisons

Searcy, Ark. – The SAU Women's Basketball team returned to action for the first time in a week, taking on Harding Friday night. The contest, originally scheduled for Thursday night, was pushed back a day due to weather conditions throughout the state of Arkansas.

The Muleriders only shot 25 percent in the first quarter while the hosts made half of their 20 shots in the same time.

The second quarter saw the Muleriders score 33 points, shooting 5-10 from three to take a three-point halftime lead. However, the Bisons shot 20-31 from the field in the second half, compared to the Muleriders 13-34 shooting in the second half.

Kisi Young led all players with 20 points scored on the night. The Magnolia native shot 8-10 from the field, splitting both of her three-point attempts. Young also grabbed four rebounds as the Muleriders only committed 14 turnovers as a team.

Diamond Morris and Jessica Jones scored 15 points each. Morris made all eight of her free throw attempts, as well as contributing four assists, while Jones made a trio of triples.

The Muleriders, despite shooting 38 free throws, only made 26 of them, shooting 68.4 percent, while the Bisons went 21-26 from the charity stripe.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Muleriders as they return to action tomorrow afternoon in Russellville versus Arkansas Tech.
