MAGNOLIA – The SAU Women's Basketball team closed their regular season out with a win over Harding on Saturday by a score of 88-76. After this visitors jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the game, the Muleriders went on an 18-4 run to take back the lead, one they would not concede for the remainder of the contest.
Five Muleriders scored in double figures, paced by
Diamond Morris' 17 points.
Ariana Guinn added in 16 points on 4-7 shooting, going 2-3 from the field and converting all six free throw attempts.
Kisi Young scored 14 points,
Lillie Moore added in 11 and
Jessica Jones scored 10.
Young led the Muleriders with nine rebounds and four blocked shots; Guinn dished out five assists while
Jerica Bell and
Braydyn Hill added four each; and Morris grabbed four steals as the Muleriders forced 25 Lady Bisons turnovers.
As a team, the Muleriders shot 49.3 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from three. They were also able to keep the visitors in check defensively, with Harding only shooting 35.6 percent from the field and 14.3 percent from three.
The Muleriders enter next week's GAC Tournament as the fifth seed in the Eastern Division. They play fourth-seeded Ouachita Baptist on Monday night in Arkadelphia at 5:30; winner will then have a Wednesday night meeting with top Western Division seed Southwestern Oklahoma.
