Muleriders Return to Winning Ways in Wire-to-Wire Victory over Reddies

MAGNOLIA – The SAU Women's Basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak on Monday when they defeated conference foes Henderson State in a non-conference matchup.

The Muleriders, propelled by the presence of 50 or so fans in the stands, scored the first 12 points of the contest as it took the visitors over four minutes to score their first basket. From that point on, the closest the Reddies got to the lead was seven points.

The Muleriders and the Reddies have now split a game apiece in the season series, with the Reddies taking the season opener back on January 7th.

Kylie Warren recorded her first collegiate double-double in the victory, scoring 12 points and grabbing ten rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench. Despite only making one field goal, Warren went 9-10 from the free-throw line.

Warren also led the Muleriders with three assists and grabbed two steals as well.

Jessica Jones led the Muleriders with 13 points on 5-7 shooting from the field. Jones also grabbed six rebounds and did not turn the ball over in a game that saw 54 combined turnovers between the two teams.

Kenzie Ezekiel and Ariana Guinn joined Jones and Warren in double digits. Ezekiel scored 11 points while Guinn chipped in 10, going 6-8 from the line.

The Muleriders shot 30 free throws on the night while the Reddies only shot 12. Additionally, the Muleriders out-rebounded the Reddies 56-40.

The Muleriders improve to 2-4 on the season and 1-4 in conference play. They return to action on Saturday in Arkadelphia in a rematch versus the Reddies.
