MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Playing in their first of two matches this week, the Southern Arkansas University volleyball team dropped a Great American Conference match up with South Eastern Oklahoma State University 3-0 on Thursday evening.
Set one saw a closely contested battle as SAU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, followed by both teams trading points back and forth. Tied at nine, SEOSU would use an 11-5 run to go up 20-14. SAU was able to put up eight more points and cut the score to two, but wound up falling 25-22.
Down 23-14 in set two, SAU used a 10-1 run to tie the game at 24 all, before eventually falling 26-24. Despite keeping it close at 6-6 to start the third set, SEOSU would use a 19-6 run to close out set three and take the 3-0 match victory.
Abby Bermudez raised her season block total to 50 blocks, as she finished the match with a game high six blocks.
Morgan Schuster was right behind Bermudez with five blocks in the contest, to go along with her team leading 14 assists.
Landry Rogers led SAU with six kills, followed by
Isla Olivas who finished with five. Bermudez finished with four kills in the match. Olivas finished with a team high .500 attack percentage.
Victoria White led the defense with nine digs, followed by
Bailey Kirk and
Morgan Schuster who each tallied seven digs on the night.
The Muleriders will return to the court tomorrow evening as they are set to take on East Central University. First serve it set for 6:00 p.m.
