Muleriders Unable to Overcome Slow Third Quarter versus Suns

MAGNOLIA – The SAU Women's Basketball team leapt out to a 37-28 halftime lead over division leaders Arkansas Tech, but a slow third quarter where the Muleriders only shot 6-26 from the field saw the visitors climb back into the lead, and after trading the lead back and forth, the Suns took the lead for good with 4:10 left in the game.

Despite forcing 29 Suns turnovers and only committing 15 turnovers of their own, the Muleriders only shot 30.4 percent from the field, going 28-92 on shot attempts and 7-35 from three.

Jayana Sanders led all scorers with 20 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

Diamond Morris led the Muleriders in scoring with 18 points. The sophomore grabbed six rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench.
Kisi Young scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds; and Ariana Guinn scored 10 points.

Jessica Jones scored six points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds; Bradyn Hill dished out a team-high six assists; and Maggie Evans nabbed four steals.

The Muleriders are now 1-4 on the season; they return to action on Monday when they host Henderson State in a non-conference matchup.
