Alva, Okla. – The SAU Softball team's offensive juggernaut kept on rolling Friday, putting up 27 runs in two wins over Northwestern Oklahoma.
The Muleriders only had one run through the first two inning, with
Sarah Evans scoring on an error by the Northwestern third baseman.
The Muleriders put on three runs in the third inning, with
Elisa Favela and Evans scoring on bases-loaded walks, followed by
Alese Casper scoring on a wild pitch.
The offense blew the game open an inning later, however, scoring 12 runs by capitalizing on Rangers mistakes.
Chelsea Fagan drove in three runs with her fourth homerun of the season.
Evans and Casper would both score on errors by the second baseman, before Fagan drove in a run on an RBI double.
Christina Hill then followed suit, this time clearing the loaded bags with a double of her own; an RBI single by Casper would cap the scoring for the inning.
Favela would single in a run an inning later before Fagan would leave the yard for her second three-run shot of the game.
The Rangers would tack on a consolation run in the bottom of the fifth.
Sydney Wader picked up the win, pitching three shutout innings;
Crystine Kistner relieved her, pitching the final two innings.
The scoring kicked off in game two in the first inning, with
Faith Otts scoring on a passed ball.
The Rangers would tie the game up with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning.
The Muleriders responded with six run in the top of the second, with scoring starting with a
Maeson Grace bunt single leading to a throwing error, scoring Casper.
Jaxynn Dyson would score on an error, and Favela would drive in a run with a hit by pitch with the bags full.
An Evans sacrifice fly and an error by the Rangers second baseman capped the scoring for the inning.
The game stayed 7-1 until the sixth inning, with a Hill groundout and a Casper sacrifice fly giving the Muleriders an eight-run lead, and ultimately, a run-rule.
Victoria Taylor picked up the win and Wader threw the final four innings of this game. On the day, Wader struck out eight batters in seven innings of work.
The Muleriders are now 16-2 and 6-0 in conference play. They play the Rangers tomorrow in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
