Muleriders clean the glass in victory over #21 Bulldogs

MAGNOLIA – The SAU Women's Basketball rebounded from their loss on Thursday in emphatic fashion, beating last year's national runner-up, 21st-ranked Southwestern Oklahoma State, 67-61 inside the W. T. Watson Center. The Muleriders out-rebounded the Bulldogs 51-37 on the day, including 15 offensive rebounds that led to 17 second-chance points.

The Muleriders record their second win over a ranked opponent on the season, having beaten then 18th-ranked Harding back in December.

The Bulldogs only held one lead in the contest, at 3-2. After the game tied at 4-4, the Muleriders scored on a three-pointer by Kylie Warren with 5:22 left in the first, and held the lead for the rest for the contest, holding the Bulldogs to nine points total in the first quarter.

Warren led the Muleriders with 13 points, going three of four from deep. The sophomore was responsible for half of the Mulerider makes from three. Warren added in three rebounds, an assist and a block as the Muleriders blocked eight shots on the day.

Doriana Brown also scored in double digits, coming up just shy of a double-double with 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds. The junior contributed two blocks and two steals in 23 minutes off the bench.

Alyssa Crase and Kisi Young both grabbed eight rebounds, with Crase scoring eight points and Young with three.

The Muleriders shot 40.4 percent from the field and 6-14 from three, while also shooting 75 percent from the free-throw line.

The Muleriders improve to 9-3 on the season and 3-3 in conference play. They hit the road next weekend for away games against East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma.
