Livingston, Ala. – The SAU Volleyball team made its way east for the West Alabama Tournament, where day one saw the Muleriders face off with Montevallo. The Muleriders took set one in commanding fashion, winning 25-15 over the Falcons before dropping the last three sets 25-10, 25-19 and 25-15.
The first set was the perfect start for the Muleriders as they hit .417, committing only two errors as their opposition hit .033.
Libero
Alana Perez led all players on the floor with 20 digs, the second time this season the Crosby, Texas native has recorded 20 or more digs.
Junior
Morgan Gross led the attacking effort for the Muleriders, recording 11 kills and hitting a team-high .240 on the night. The southpaw attacker improves her season total to 78 kills, second-highest on the team.
Morgan Schuster recorded 33 assists, joint-highest on the floor with Montevallo's Savannah Roys. This is the sixth time this season the freshman has put up 30 or more assists in a match.
The Muleriders return to action tomorrow at the West Alabama Tournament, taking on the hosts at 9 a.m. before closing against Augusta at 2 p.m.
