Shawnee, Okla. – The SAU Women's Track and Field teams started competition at the GAC Championships hosted by Oklahoma Baptist and find themselves in third place after a trio of Muleriders placed in the hammer throw and
Teresa Reed took second place in the javelin.
The freshman bested the previous GAC record for the event of 38.08, throwing at a 38.56-meter mark. Reed also placed fifth in the hammer throw, taking a pair of points for the Muleriders.
T'Keyah Crockett took home top honors in the hammer throw, obliterating the GAC record in the event, previously at 47.76 meters. The senior's sixth and final throw on the day saw her set the new record at 51.00 meters, besting second place by almost a full meter.
Erica Fuller placed sixth in the event with a throw of 46.08 meters, taking in a single point for the Muleriders.
The Muleriders sit in third place, 18 points behind second-place Oklahoma Baptist and 42 points behind leaders Harding. The Muleriders are back in action tomorrow with the conclusion of the rest of the events taking place at the GAC Championships.
