Mulerider Women Voted Fifth in GAC Preseason Coaches Poll

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference has announced its preseason coaches poll for the 2025 Women's Outdoor Track and Field season. Under their new leadership, Southern Arkansas has been placed at fifth in the league's poll with 53 points.

Voted as the preseason favorite to win the Women's GAC Track and Field Championship is the same group that captured the title last season, the Oklahoma Baptist Bison. The reigning champs and preseason favorites were voted in their position with 79 total points and seven of the ten first-place votes. The group looks forward to defending their title on their own track and field at home this season with the 2025 GAC Championships in Shawnee, Oklahoma (Apr. 30 – May 2).

Ahead of the Mulerider Women in the listing are Southeastern Oklahoma (4th | 53 points), Ouachita Baptist (3rd | 61 points), and Harding (2nd | 75 points | 3 first-place votes).

Southern Arkansas has already completed its first outdoor meet of the new campaign as the Blue and Gold competed at the Mississippi College Spring Classic for the fifth season in a row. Headlining for the women in the meet were Ashlynn Dickey, Diamond Brunn, Kailyn Thomas, and Ambree Collinsworth as all four athletes claimed a first-place victory while in Clinton, Mississippi.

Remaining on the schedule for the Muleriders are three road meets that include the Ouachita Invite (Ouachita Baptist | Arkadelphia, Ark.), Bill Schmidt Invite (North Texas | Denton, Texas), and the Carl Kight Invite & Multi (Stephen F. Austin | Nacogdoches, Texas). To cap off the regular season for SAU will be the groups home meet, the Dan Veach Invitational on April 19.
