Magnolia, Ark. – The SAU Women's Basketball team dropped another conference game at home, this time to Arkansas Tech by a score of 85-60. The Golden Suns outscored the Muleriders in every quarter; including, a 26-15 third quarter that saw the Golden Suns put the game out of reach.
The Golden Suns sported five players in double-digits, including a game-high 18 points from Jacie Higgins. As a team, the Golden Suns shot 66.7 percent from the floor and scored 52 points in the paint.
For the second game in a row,
Tamera Shaver led the Muleriders in scoring. Shaver scored 13 points on 5-11 shooting from the field. Shaver went 2-6 from three-point land, grabbed three rebounds and recorded two steals in 32 minutes of floor.
A pair of freshmen,
Ariana Guinn and
Jerica Bell, were also in double digits for the Muleriders. Guinn scored 11 points on 4-9 shooting and grabbed three rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench, while Bell scored 10 points on 5-7 shooting, while also grabbing a rebound and dishing out three assists in 21 minutes off the bench.
Sophomore
Brette Wacha grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to go along with five points, and
Olivia McWilliams recorded a team-high four assists and three steals.
The Muleriders are now 2-20 on the season and 1-15 in conference play. They return to action next Thursday at the W. T. Watson Center as they host Arkansas-Monticello.
